The Meccanica strikes an eye-catching presence in Vancouver’s Olympic Village. Completed in 2015 and designed by Rafii Architects, the Meccanica at East 1st & Quebec harkens back to its origins as the site of a workshop creating hand-crafted, replica Porsche roadsters. 165 homes ranging from 546 sq. ft. to 1590 sq. ft. in both condos and townhomes are spread between a tower and adjacent five-and-a-half storey building. The two buildings are joined via a four-storey, glass-enclosed bridge. This Cressey Group development merges modern architecture with notes of the neighbourhood’s industrial past to create a distinctive fixture many people are lucky to call home.

Balancing Classic Styles with Modern Trends

Homes at the Meccanica come in studios, one-bedrooms, two-bedrooms and three-bedroom units. Homes come equipped with efficient heating and air conditioning. In whichever configuration of bedrooms, homes have had their interiors thoughtfully and tastefully designed by Insight Design Group Inc.

The interior of the homes feature roller blinds – perfect for changing the home’s level of privacy and natural light to the resident’s preference. The ceilings are over 9 feet high, while the floors are polished concrete. Throughout the home are over-height interior doors. In a nod to the area’s industrial past, the bedroom has an industrial-style metal door.

Kitchens have seamless quartz countertops (and matching backsplash) along with super high-gloss lacquer cabinetry. Appliances are by AEG with a fully-integrated refrigerator and dishwasher. The kitchen features a large, undermounted sink too.

Bathrooms in the units feature fully-tiled bathroom feature walls, high-gloss lacquer cabinets and a floating vanity mirror. The countertops are quartz, along with Grohe fixtures and undermounted sink.

Amenities for a Lifestyle Experience at Meccanica

The Meccanica features some interesting amenities for residents which sets it apart from other condo buildings. And, of course, these amenities are designed with the same modern, playful styling and interior decor found throughout the property. Here’s the breakdown on what is on offer for residents of the Meccanica:

  • Gym
  • Garden
  • Secure underground parking
  • Rooftop BBQ & patio
  • Second-floor workshop area
  • Gallery space on main floor
  • Meeting room

The crown jewel of amenities – even surpassing a workshop area and a gallery space – is the 1,100 Sq.ft. Dining Hall. This dining hall is a party room with an exclusive feature. Not only does the dining hall feature a 12-seat dining table, but it is paired with a CresseyKitchen™ – a chef’s demonstration kitchen perfect for showing off how a gourmet dish is created or letting you push your hosting abilities to the limit. A demonstration kitchen is different from a chef’s kitchen, where a demonstration kitchen can allow guests to observe the culinary preparation without having “too many cooks in the kitchen.”
