The pandemic in Vancouver, BC and all over the world has impacted all of us in various ways, but our home space is one thing that has been affected for almost everyone – whether it be for virtual working or schooling (or both).
As many people spent more time indoors throughout 2020, not only were they craving more comfort — they were also forced to reimagine their spaces to meet the demands of their new lifestyle. Quarantine has inspired these top home decor trends to look out for in 2021:
1. Dark Hues
Dark, moody colours are a great backdrop for furniture, and make rooms feel cozy and inviting. I am loving the board and batten accent wall trend with a dark, bold colour!
2. Indoor Plants
2020 was the year everyone got a green thumb, and for good reason. Indoor plants help freshen the air, and bring the clarity and calm of nature indoors (which was much needed after spending so much time inside due to the pandemic).
3. Earthy Tones and Textures
Earth tones go with just about everything. You can pair them with patterns and use them to compliment numerous furniture styles and materials. You can even mix and match them with other colours and still get a cohesive look!
4. Multipurpose Spaces
We added workspaces to our living rooms, classrooms into our kitchens, and gyms to our bedrooms. This year, people will be finding ways to reimagine their homes and incorporate pieces of furniture that help restore balance to our multi-functional spaces.
